In the first half of the 21st century, food demand will double as the world’s population is expected to grow from 6 billion to over 9 billion by 2050. Increasing disposable income will also lead to significant diet changes, particularly in Asia. Feeding this growing population with affordable and healthy food will be a significant challenge. Limited land resources effectively means that we have to do more with less.  Global climate change and rising energy consumption will further add to this challenge. In response, Agriculture will need to change dramatically.
