Im Alter von vier Jahren, 1941, wurde er in ein Internat der Salesianer gebracht, um fernab seiner <span class=\"w-term-highlight\">Gemeinschaft<\/span>\u00a0im Sinne der\u00a0<em><span class=\"w-term-highlight\">Wei\u00df<\/span>en<\/em> erzogen zu werden. Hier lernte Lana die portugiesische Sprache zu lesen und zu schreiben, er bekam Unterricht in Mathematik, Physik und geometrischem Zeichnen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Zeit im Internat markierte zugleich den Anfang von Lanas Beziehungen zur nicht-indigenen Welt, die f\u00fcr einen Gro\u00dfteil seines weiteren Lebens pr\u00e4gend waren.<\/p>\n<p>Nach seinem Schulabschluss lebte Lana einige Jahre in Kolumbien. Nach seiner R\u00fcckkehr in seine Heimat arbeitete er als Plantagenarbeiter, Maurergehilfe, Traktorfahrer, Telegrafist, Ziegler und Minenarbeiter.<\/p>\n<p>Feliciano Lana gilt der westlichen Welt als einer der ersten Indigenen K\u00fcnstler*innen aus dem Amazonasgebiet.<\/p>\n<p>Sein Wirken begann Anfang der 1970er Jahre, als er von dem aus Litauen stammenden Pater Casimiro B\u00e9cksta dazu eingeladen wurde, die Indigene Kultur der Region aufzuzeichnen. Eigentlich sollte Lana fotografieren und Audioaufnahmen erstellen, entschied sich dann aber dazu, sein Wissen in gemalten Bilder festzuhalten.
