Sie hat ihren Platz in der klassischen osmanischen Musik ebenso wie in der urbanen Volksmusik, und t\u00fcrkische, griechische und armenische Musiker:innen haben sie f\u00fcr sich beansprucht. Aufgrund seines hybriden Charakter l\u00e4sst sich das Instrument nicht eindeutig ethnischen, nationalen oder auch musikwissenschaftlichen Kategorien zuordnen.<\/p>\n<p>Ausgehend von diesem zentralen Beispiel wollen wir uns bei dieser F\u00fchrung Musikstile und -instrumente aus dem \u00f6stlichen Mittelmeerraum, dem Mittleren Osten sowie aus S\u00fcd- und Zentralasien ansehen und dabei musikwissenschaftliche, ethnologische und historische Zug\u00e4nge nutzen. Wir erfahren, warum es bei Musikkultur nicht nur um ansprechende Melodien oder \u00e4sthetischen Genuss geht: Musik fungierte im Laufe der Moderne immer wieder als Mittel zur Schaffung und Aufl\u00f6sung von Identit\u00e4ten.
