Nach dem Studium in K\u00f6ln promovierte sie an der Freien Universit\u00e4t Berlin und habilitierte sich an der Martin-Luther-Universit\u00e4t Halle\/Wittenberg. Zu den Stationen ihrer wissenschaftlichen Laufbahn z\u00e4hlen das Max Planck Institut f\u00fcr ethnologische Forschung sowie die Universit\u00e4ten Z\u00fcrich und Bayreuth. 2023 lehrte sie in Stanford und 2020-2021 war sie Fellow am Institute for Advanced Study in Paris. Zu ihren Forschungsthemen geh\u00f6ren Sorge, Staat und Verwandtschaft.
