Als eine pr\u00e4gende Stimme der literarischen Innovationen der persischen Poesie der letzten drei Jahrzehnte gilt er als Mitbegr\u00fcnder einer modernen \u201eGhazal-Form\u201c. Wegen seines Protests gegen die iranische Regierung, wurde er mehrfach verhaftet und gefoltert. Um der Zensur zu entgehen, ver\u00f6ffentlichte er seine Texte \u00fcber Untergrundstrukturen, darunter die von ihm gegr\u00fcndete Gruppe \u201eBe Nam-e V\u0101zheh\u201c. Nach wiederholter Verfolgung floh er schlie\u00dflich ins Exil. Seit Fr\u00fchjahr 2023 lebt er als Stipendiat des PEN-Programms \u201eWriters in Exile\u201c in Deutschland.
