In Medium erinnert Rianto daran, dass der Begriff Lengger von &#8222;elinga ngger&#8220; abgeleitet ist, was soviel bedeutet wie &#8222;Ratschlag, sich bewusst zu sein, sich zu erinnern&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Nach dem Erfolg von SoftMachine kehrt Rianto zur\u00fcck in seine Heimatstadt und nimmt Kontakt zu den Lengger-Meistern auf. Er k\u00e4mpft nicht nur f\u00fcr das \u00dcberleben dieser Tanzform, sondern vor allem f\u00fcr den Raum, den sie jenseits bin\u00e4rer Gegens\u00e4tze bietet. Es handelt sich um einen Raum zwischen M\u00e4nnlichkeit und Weiblichkeit, zwischen Br\u00e4uchen und religi\u00f6sen Prinzipien, zwischen bewusster Kontrolle und Trance.<br \/>\nMedium ist Riantos universeller Aufruf zur Freiheit, sich von Dogmen loszusagen und sich auf die Widerspr\u00fcche, Geheimnisse und Vielfalt der javanischen Tradition einzulassen. In Riantos virtuoser Bewegungssprache dr\u00fcckt er die Beziehung zwischen seinem religi\u00f6sen, sozialen, politischen und traditionellen K\u00f6rper aus. Seit 2003 lebt Rianto zwischen Indonesien und Tokio, Japan, wo er Dewandaru Dance Company gegr\u00fcndet hat, um die javanesische Tanzkunst in Japan einzuf\u00fchren. Er hat mit einer Reihe von internationalen Choreographen, Performance-Macher*innen und Kompanien zusammengearbeitet.rnAnfang 2017 schloss sich Rianto der Compagnie von Akram Khan an, um Akrams Rolle in der feministischen Neubearbeitung des Mahabharata u003cemu003eUntil The Lionsu003c\/emu003e zu \u00fcbernehmen, mit der er ab 2017 auf Tournee ging. Riantos hochgelobtes Solowerk u003cemu003eSoftMachineu003c\/emu003e: Rianto unter der Leitung von Choy Ka Fai wird weiterhin in ganz Europa und im asiatisch-pazifischen Raum aufgef\u00fchrt.rnDerzeit beginnt Rianto eine neue Forschungsphase zu geschlechts\u00fcbergreifenden Traditionen und Transgender-Performance auf dem indonesischen Archipel. Sie arbeitete mit Slamet Gundono (in Wayang Suket), Garin Nugroho (in Opera Jawa, Selendang Merah, Nyai, Pager Bumi und Satan Jawa, die in den Niederlanden, Frankreich, Melbourne, Jakarta und Solo tourten). Mit Goenawan Mohamad, Tony Prabowo und Melati Suryodarmo (in den Opern Sysiphus, Macbeth und Gandari mit Tourneen in Jakarta, Belgien und Frankfurt). Sie war an den Produktionen der Deddy Luthan Dance Company und Sen Hea Ha&#8216; beteiligt (Auff\u00fchrungen in Belgien, den Niederlanden, Frankreich, Singapur und \u00d6sterreich).
