Social Media Code of Conduct

As a forum for the general public, the Humboldt Forum seeks to stimulate discussion about existential questions which people from all cultures have been asking themselves throughout the ages. Our social media channels provide a venue where people can communicate with each other and debate these issues, and we’d like to encourage everybody to share their ideas, stories and opinions with us.

In order to ensure that this dialogue remains a positive experience for all participants, we ask our online community to respect the following rules:

Protect your privacy

Please don’t divulge confidential information about yourself or others. We will remove any posts containing sensitive details – addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, etc. – about you or other people.

Stay on-topic

We’re delighted to host all kinds of discussion – as long as they’re carried out in the right place. So please always write directly beneath the post upon which you wish to comment, and don’t repeat the same content in other threads. Posts which are unrelated to the main topic could be removed.

Everyone has their own opinion

The views of our fans and followers do not necessarily correspond to the views of the Humboldt Forum; neither do the opinions of our staff and partners automatically reflect those of the Humboldt Forum.

Respect other people’s views

Avoid hateful, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory and insulting comments, photos and videos, as well as posts that personally attack other users. Comments of this kind may be deleted. Racist and xenophobic comments will not be tolerated and will result in the user being banned.

Don’t advertise anything

Avoid posting material which promotes yourself or others. We will remove all links, images and videos advertising people, products or services.

Don’t infringe the intellectual property rights of others

Please don’t post legally protected content to which you don’t own the rights. We will remove any logos, graphics, texts, images or videos if we determine that they have infringed copyright.
