In the course of history, the site of the Humboldt Forum has repeatedly been the scene of both the self-portrayal of rulers and the revolutionary uprising of the population. Once rulers and government representatives staged themselves here, in the time of the electors and kings as well as in the GDR. It was repeatedly the scene of upheavals and revolutionary events – in 1848, 1918 and also in 1989 in the course of the peaceful revolution. What traces of these events can still be found today? Why was the place so important as a seat of government, as well as a stage for protests? And what effect does political change have on a place?

In a dialogical and interactive tour, the students deal with original objects and visual material from different times, explore through selected stations how rule was staged and exercised at this place, and discuss causes and different paths to political change.
