In this special birthday workshop, children playfully discover the figures and symbols on the reconstructed façade of the Humboldt Forum and learn about the stories and meanings behind them. They explore the visual world of past centuries. Afterwards, they become creative themselves: using modeling clay and plaster, they experiment with the positive-negative technique and design their own small reliefs, which they can shape and decorate imaginatively. At the end, each child takes home their own handmade artwork – a special keepsake from an extraordinary birthday celebration that combines learning, discovery, and artistic creation.
FAQ
Yes, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children! The facilitators design and accompany the programme, but do not provide childcare. Please assist if necessary, e.g. if a child is not feeling well. Please be considerate of other visitors!
Yes, there will be a short snack break during the workshop. Bring small treats such as pretzels, muffins, rolls, vegetable sticks or snacks, as well as water or juice. We ask that you only choose snacks that are easy to distribute, can be eaten without much effort and do not require extensive preparation on site.
Yes, part of the programme will take place in a room reserved for you. You can set out the snacks you’ve brought there. You’re welcome to bring a (paper) tablecloth, paper cups, crockery and colourful napkins to decorate the table. Please do not bring any balloons or confetti. Please also note that, for fire safety reasons, only LED candles are permitted.
