Once rulers and government representatives staged themselves here, in the time of the electors and kings as well as in the GDR. It was repeatedly the scene of upheavals and revolutionary events \u2013 in 1848, 1918 and also in 1989 in the course of the peaceful revolution. What traces of these events can still be found today? Why was the place so important as a seat of government, as well as a stage for protests?
