The Mexican writer Gabriela Garc\u00eda Garc\u00eda will talk about her current fellowship as part of the project “The Collaborative Museum”<\/a> of the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art of the National Museums in Berlin. During her stay in Berlin, she will be examining over 400 objects from a collection that Wilhelm Bauer acquired in 1903 in the Mazateca region of southern Mexico (border region between the states of Oaxaca, Puebla and Veracruz) for the then Royal Museum of Ethnology.<\/p>\n

Their engagement with the collection is not just about working with the objects and their names, which Bauer documented on the index cards and in his scientific studies of the region. Another goal is the joint development of a travelling exhibition on the Bauer collection and its interpretation from today’s perspective. It is expected to be shown in various villages in the Mazateca region in the coming year. With her linguistic and cultural expertise, Gabriela Garcia plays a key role in the collaborative Mazateca project, which will be presented at the workshop discussion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n
