On Museum Sunday, we invite you to a concert with the punk band Planlos in the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to its visual appearance, Punk, the small, urban movement, attracted attention in East Berlin from the end of the 1970s. What was considered a provocation in the West was an attack on the state in the GDR and was fought against. The exhibition in the room “Free Space” at BERLIN GLOBAL tells the story of this youth subculture between rebellion, persecution and persistence.<\/p>\n

The theme area leads visitors into the church space, which the punks were able to conquer; their bands played concerts here. Some of the most famous punk songs \u2013 “Nazis again in East Berlin” by Namenlos or “We always want to be good” by Feeling B \u2013 can be heard. East Berlin punks were just as rebellious as their counterparts in the West, but their existence was constantly threatened and they secured their survival in niches.<\/p>\n

2 pm<\/strong> | Opening event with the punk band Planlos, Paul Spies, Director of the Stadtmuseum Berlin and curator Ulrike Rothe and project manager Frauke Miera<\/p>\n

3 pm<\/strong> | Members of the exhibition team of the new sub-room guide through the presentation and \u00a0offer discussions and questions; Participants: Anne Hahn, Ulrike Rothe and Jan Haverkamp<\/p>\n

The room was curated by the Agency for Education, History and Politics e.V. for BERLIN GLOBAL. The agency has already initiated several projects to process punk in the GDR. It brings marginalized perspectives into the prevailing historical images and addresses gaps. In doing so, it conveys current scientific findings into the practice of remembrance culture.<\/p>\n

The event is held in German.<\/em><\/p>\n
