Sie war von 1988 bis 2002 Denkmalpflegerin am Berliner Landesdenkmalamt, danach, von 2002-2021, Professorin f\u00fcr Denkmalpflege und urbanes Kulturerbe an der Technischen Universit\u00e4t\u00a0Berlin. Sie war und ist aktiv beteiligt an zahlreichen kontroversen Stadt-Debatten: \u00fcber die Berliner Mauer, die Neue Wache unter den Linden, den\u00a0<span class=\"w-term-highlight\">Palast der Republik<\/span>, die Schlossrekonstruktion, \u00fcber fig\u00fcrliche Denkmale und Zeugnisse der\u00a0<span class=\"w-term-highlight\">DDR<\/span>-Geschichte sowie \u00fcber Bauten der Nachkriegsmoderne in Ost- und West-Berlin und hat zu den genannten Themen zahlreiche Aufs\u00e4tze publiziert. Als Kind sa\u00df er in den Publikumsreihen des Palastes und bestaunte das B\u00fchnengeschehen. Sp\u00e4ter studierte er Puppenspielkunst an der HfS Ernst\u00a0<span class=\"w-term-highlight\">Busch<\/span>. Er arbeitete als Maler, Szenograph, Bildhauer und Performer mit Video, Tanz, Oper und Installation in Heidelberg. Ab 1997 besch\u00e4ftigte er sich in Reisen und Projekten mit Wanderungsspuren von Frankfurt aus.\u00a0 Die Bilder vom Abriss des Palastes dr\u00e4ngten immer wieder in die kontinuierliche Arbeit. Derzeit geht er mit seinen Texten aus \u201eBau auf! Bau ab!\u201c, denen seiner Tochter, der Autorin Anne Reinecke und den Stasiberichten von \u201eLutz Lange\u201c ein GPS-W\u00f6rter-Netz von der Stelle im Palastgrundriss aus, von der er 1974 auf dem
