He is one of Germany’s last great intellectuals, and there is hardly a debate in which he has not participated: Peter Sloderdijk, philosopher, cultural scientist and publicist. He has written tens of thousands of pages of text, and his book \u2018Critique of Cynical Reason\u2019, published in 1983, is one of the best-selling philosophical books of the 20th century. Emerging from the Frankfurt School, he later declared this tradition of thought to be \u2018dead\u2019. A lengthy stay in India helped him to become more cheerful and brought about the \u2018eastern expansion\u2019 of his reason. The professor emeritus of philosophy and aesthetics at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design reliably stirs up controversy, for example with his stance on migration policy.
