A collective book born from encounters between weavers, artists, and activists in Northern Argentina.<\/em><\/p>\n

Crecemos porque nos juntamos<\/em> (We Grow Because We Come Together) is the result of a multi-year collective process among weavers, artists, and activists from northern Argentina. The book brings together texts, memories, and voices that emerged during gatherings of the Uni\u00f3n Textiles Semillas \u2013 a network of nearly 300 women interweaving art, social practice, and communal knowledge.<\/p>\n

In a conversation between Andrei Fern\u00e1ndez and Michael Dieminger, moderated by Gaby Cisterna, the discussion will revolve around collective writing as a practice of care, weaving as a space of knowledge, and the question of how crecer juntas<\/em> \u2013 growing together \u2013 becomes a form of aesthetic and political empowerment. Through excerpts and reflections from the book, the speakers will offer insights into the project\u2019s development: moments of listening, negotiation, translation, and the shared experience of creating a work made by many hands.<\/p>\n

The evening will be accompanied by FALSO CONEJO \u2013 the Argentine duo Carla Abil\u00e9s and Gustavo Obligado. Their performance merges popular music archives from Latin America with experimental sound practices, creating a collective listening experience shaped by memory, rhythm, and resonance.<\/p>\n

The book was published in 2024 by Metaninfas<\/em> (Argentina) and emerged from the Textiles Semillas <\/em>project, developed within the program 99 Questions at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.<\/p>\n

About Uni\u00f3n Textiles Semillas<\/h5>\n

Uni\u00f3n Textiles Semillas (UTS) <\/em>brings together nearly 300 weavers, artists, and activists from twelve groups of Indigenous and rural communities in northern Argentina, along with a group of Sembradoras<\/em> \u2013 an intercultural collective for organization and research. Founded in 2023, UTS connects textile practice with economic autonomy, the transmission of knowledge, and the collective building of relationships grounded in care and collaboration.<\/p>\n

The project Textiles Semillas was initiated within the artistic-research program 99 Questions<\/em> at the Humboldt Forum, curated by Michael Dieminger. In close collaboration with Argentine curator Andrei Fern\u00e1ndez, it developed into a long-term exchange that led to the founding of Uni\u00f3n Textiles Semillas in 2023.<\/p>\n
