Georg Mascolo is one of the country\u2019s leading investigative journalists. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Der Spiegel<\/em> and headed the investigative research cooperation of NDR, WDR, and S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung<\/em>. His report on the fall of the Berlin Wall was included in UNESCO\u2019s Memory of the World Register. In 2024, together with virologist Christian Drosten, Georg Mascolo published an assessment of the coronavirus pandemic. \u201cAlles \u00fcberstanden? Ein \u00fcberf\u00e4lliges Gespr\u00e4ch zu einer Pandemie, die nicht die letzte gewesen sein wird\u201d<\/em> (\u201cAll Overcome? An Overdue Conversation About a Pandemic That Will Not Be the Last\u201d) is the title of their book. The German-Italian is a trained legal assistant and notary\u2019s clerk. In 2014, he was honored as the political \u201cJournalist of the Year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Together with his wife, Katja Gloger, Georg Mascolo published the book \u201cDas Versagen. Eine investigative Geschichte der deutschen Russlandpolitik\u201d<\/em> (\u201cThe Failure: An Investigative History of German Russia Policy\u201d) in 2025.
