Drawing on the bestseller Blutbuch<\/em> (2022), Kim<\/span> de<\/span> l\u2019Horizon<\/span> speaks<\/span> about<\/span> more-than-<\/span>human<\/span> kinships<\/span> \u2013 particularly<\/span> between<\/span> humans<\/span> and<\/span> trees<\/span>. At<\/span> the<\/span> centre<\/span> is<\/span> the<\/span> delicate<\/span> copper <\/span>beech<\/span>, serving<\/span> as<\/span> a<\/span> figure<\/span> of<\/span> thought<\/span> and<\/span> experience<\/span> through<\/span> which<\/span> key<\/span> questions<\/span> of<\/span> our<\/span> present<\/span> day<\/span> are<\/span> revealed<\/span>: the<\/span> (in<\/span>)ability<\/span> to<\/span> empathise<\/span>, processes<\/span> of<\/span> growth<\/span>, and<\/span> the<\/span> dynamics<\/span> of<\/span> in<\/span>– and<\/span> out<\/span>–grouping<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Kim presents a lecture performance that moves between reading, improvised speech and singing. Drawing on text fragments \u2013 from Blutbuch<\/em> to Donna Haraway and historical church laws \u2013 an associative web of research, reflection and voice unfolds.<\/p>\n

A particular focus lies on the question of how animism can be discussed from a white, European perspective. For centuries, Christianity has sought to suppress kinships between humans and non-human beings \u2013 particularly those with trees, which were closely linked to ancestor cults and magical practices. Against this backdrop, the performance asks how local animistic traces in Europe can be reclaimed without denying the colonial legacy borne by white European subjects.<\/p>\n

The lecture unfolds in real time: as free speech emerging from Kim\u2019s research, as a probing thought.<\/p>\n
