People born shortly before or after the fall of the Berlin Wall often have little direct experience of the GDR. And yet differences between East and West continue to shape their everyday lives and working realities.<\/p>\n

In this event, cultural practitioners from eastern Germany talk about where they still encounter these divides today. The discussion looks at disparities in income and access, as well as networks and representation, experiences of exclusion, and racism in the context of the post-reunification period and the current shift to the right.<\/p>\n

Personal experiences meet broader social perspectives. You will gain insights into realities shaped by both freedom and ongoing barriers.<\/p>\n

Taking part in the discussion are social worker and musician Ngoc Anh Nguyen<\/strong>, theatre-maker and actor Juliane Meckert<\/strong>, and author and podcaster Flor Fischer<\/strong>. The event will be moderated by Elise Landschek.<\/p>\n

The event is held in German.<\/p>\n

The event marks the opening of the four-part series \u201cAcross Borders: Drawing, Tearing Down and Shifting\u201d<\/em>. Around the 65th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, the series turns its focus to borders in the past and present \u2014 in society as well as in everyday life.<\/p>\n
