Our event series \u201cBeyond Borders: Drawing, Breaking, Shifting\u201d<\/a> at BERLIN GLOBAL returns for its third edition. This time, we invite you to a reading from \u201cNiewiedervereinigung: 100 Interjections on German Reunification\u201d with author Paula F\u00fcrstenberg.<\/p>\n

What is it about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paula F\u00fcrstenberg reflects on German reunification from the perspective of a generation that grew up after the fall of the Wall. In the euphoria surrounding reunification, people were promised prosperity and a brighter future. Yet for many in eastern Germany, reality was shaped by unemployment, migration and far-right violence. Drawing on her own biography, which begins during the so-called \u201cbaseball bat years\u201d, F\u00fcrstenberg examines the blind spots in Germany\u2019s dominant reunification narrative. Her book views reunification not only as a democratic success story, but also as a turning point that coincided with the rise of a new nationalism and increasing far-right violence.<\/p>\n

The event will be moderated by journalist and author Nhi Le. The event will take place in German.<\/em><\/p>\n
