Mirrianne Mahn poses this question as a Black woman in a house where her body was not initially intended to be treated with human dignity, but at best as the object of an ethnological gaze. From this perspective, she asks what it means to preserve a cultural heritage that is not one\u2019s own. How do we deal with this heritage? And can it even be transformed? Her debut novel, <em data-prosemirror-content-type=\"mark\" data-prosemirror-mark-name=\"em\">ISSA<\/em> (Rowohlt 2024), traces 100 years of German colonial history from the perspective of five generations of women. Mahn served as a city councilmember in Frankfurt am Main and as chair of the culture committee. Her work focuses on intersectional feminism and colonial continuities. For this, she was named one of the \u201c100 Women of the Year\u201d by FOCUS magazine in
