Through the museums in Europe, an understanding of the &#8220;other&#8221; was formed &#8211; a worldview that still has an impact today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The opening event in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humboldtforum.org\/en\/programm\/event-reihe\/discourse\/99-questions-20100\/\"><em>99 Questions<\/em><\/a> asks about the status quo of ethnological museums and collections.\u00a0Where do museums currently stand? Since October 2006, she has also held an honorary professorship in the Department of Cultural Studies at the University of Bremen. After studying Ethnology and Ancient American studies in G\u00f6ttingen, Bonn, Los Angeles and Mexico, she was head of the Americas department at the Museum der Kulturen Basel from 1999 to 2002. At the Deutscher Museumsbund (DMB), of which Ahrndt was Vice President from 2011 to 2018, she currently heads two working groups that have issued the following guidelines: <em>Guidelines for German Museums. He has been working with collections from Kanak culture in various approaches since 1985. Among other positions, he was director of the Kanak Cultural Development Agency <b>\u2013<\/b> Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre, New Caledonia. As co-curator, he conceived the exhibition\u00a0<em>Kanak, art is a Statemen<\/em>t, which was shown at the Mus\u00e9e du quai Branly in 2013 and at the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre in Noum\u00e9a in 2014, as well as the exhibition\u00a0<em>20 Years of Collection Enrichment. He is Professor for Ethnomusicology at the University of Cologne and Honorary Professor for Ethnomusicology at the University of the Arts in Berlin. He has conducted field work in India, as well as in South Korea. H<\/span><span class=\"s3\">e is currently a researcher at IFAN Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar, and Curator of the Th<\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u00e9<\/span><span class=\"s3\">odore Monod Museum of African Art. She was the press spokeswoman for various institutions and companies in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hessen and is a former board member and active member of Neue Deutsche Medienmacher e. V. Between 2019 and 2020 she has been a member of the Expert Committee appointed by the NRW state government as part of the Ruhr Conference.
