A story in music and bodies about myths, longing for the divine, and about (interpretive) power, possession and obsession.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mexico Aura<\/em> is set in our present: in a museum, at night. A curator receives an enigmatic applicant. Is she an artist or a political activist? Outside, fires burn &#8211; dumps of rubbish in Mexico. The journalist Claas Relotius reports live from everyday life in Mexico, from border militias and Mayan rites. &#8211; In the museum, a man with a dog&#8217;s head sings about his wife, whom he has been searching for for centuries. &#8211; Claas Relotius takes us to the &#8220;Museum of the Future&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A world premiere with five dancers, three singers and the musicians of the Zafraan Ensemble. They take us on a fantastic and intricate journey into our global present. With music by the young composer Diana Syrse (MEX\/D), texts by Eva Hibernia (ES) and John von D\u00fcffel (D) and staged by Christopher Roman (USA\/D).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mexico Aura : The Myth of Possession<\/strong> is a co-production of the Neuk\u00f6llner Oper and the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/div>\n In interaction with other art forms, Zafraan observes, explores and processes what surrounds us: people, events, nature, technologies, the normalities and absurdities of today. The group, consisting of ten permanent members from Spain, France, New Zealand, Australia and Germany, was formed in Berlin in 2009 and plays current repertoire covered by the core cast. In collaboration with conductors such as Manuel Nawri or Titus Engel, with artists such as Chiharu Shiota, Ali\u00e9nor Dauchez and Louise Wagner, with composers such as Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Yoav Pasovsky, Elena Mendoza, Stefan Keller, Lula Romero, Johannes Sch\u00f6llhorn, Eres Holz or Johannes Boris Borowski, they push the limits, take risks and create something new.
