The four-part ARTE series paints an unsparing picture of European colonialism. From the genocide of the American <span class=\"w-term-highlight\">First Nations<\/span>\u00a0to the trade with enslaved people to the Shoah: a film essay, across 600 years of history, a journey into the heart of darkness. He then worked as a research assistant for the history of Africa at Humboldt-Universit\u00e4t zu Berlin until 2010 and wrote his doctoral thesis on German colonialism in East Africa. Since 2010, Pesek has been, among other things, a substitute professor for the history of Africa at Humboldt University and the University of Hamburg. He is also the author of several books on European colonialism and the First World War in East Africa.
