With Edda Biasia and Miss Tobi we walk to striking places in the district of Berlin-Kreuzberg. Edda Biasia lived in Kreuzberg right next to the Berlin Wall. Miss Tobi denounces the displacement of culture through her metal sculptures on the streets of Berlin. Through places of resistance and narratives of people who live there, they explain to us how gentrification is spreading through the district.<\/p>\n

Rising prices, empty buildings and displaced residents \u2013 while gentrification is not unique to Berlin, it is occurring here with particular speed and devastating impact. On an Open Space<\/em> of BERLIN GLOBAL, artists explore the phenomenon of gentrification. Berliners are resisting the loss of affordable housing and urban space with demonstrations, grassroots organisation and solidarity, fighting their displacement to the literal fringes of urban society. But despite their best efforts, the onslaught of advancing commercial interests continues.<\/p>\n
