Mia and Lara are best friends growing up in a small town in Western Canada. But Mia gradually realizes just how different their lives are. She belongs to an Indigenous community, while Lara is part of the white middle class—a contrast that shapes how the world around them views the two girls. Based on the author’s autobiography, this powerful book unfolds in short episodes, offering a compelling glimpse into a friendship marked by racism and classism.
