Does the Pacific consist only of endless expanses of water? The tour looks at the multitude of island societies in this ocean and how they are still interconnected today. Questions of climate change and colonialism are also discussed using selected objects. What connections exist between the two phenomena?
From May 17, 2025, the tour will also show the participatory artworks by George Tamihana Nuku. Together with Berliners, New Zealand’s leading contemporary artist has created interventions made of Plexiglas and plastic bottles. Among other things, a coral reef made of bottles enriches the exhibition areas from Oceania.
