Our Roots Run Deep is the name of the latest album by Haitian-Canadian singer-songwriter Dominique Fils-Aimé and the title is programmatic. Dominique Fils-Aimé is an artist who places the long history of African-American music culture at the centre of her work and reflects on the social conditions that have influenced genres such as blues, jazz and soul.

She has already won a JUNO Award for her highly acclaimed album trilogy Nameless, Stay Tuned and Three little Words. On her new album, she continues her search for her own musical roots and digs deep into the music of Afro-American icons such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Etta James.
