Emel (Mathlouthi)

With her new album MRA, Emel presents a hard-hitting and highly danceable redefinition of her sound – powerful hip-hop meets feverish pop melodies and pushing reggaeton.

MRA means ‘woman’ in Arabic and was written, conceived and produced exclusively by and with women. As with her debut album Kelmti Horra (‘free speech’ in Arabic), the music sees itself as a manifesto, and as a soulful yet clear soundtrack for the coming revolutions – or as Emel would say: ‘My voice has no limits’.
