Ornamentation changes the human body. It can be emotional, political and even subversive. Body adornment is also always an expression of personal and public identity. In this jewelry workshop for adult visitors, you will make your own unique pieces from recycled material that you can take home and into the world. In addition, you will get insights into the cultural technique of body ornamentation.

Marta Oliveira Sonius holds a Master’s Degree in History of Art and in Social and Cultural Anthropology of the Ancient Americas from the Freie Universität Berlin. Currently, she works as a freelance museum educator at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin and as a research assistant at the Catholic University Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Anke Göhring studied Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts. She has received numerous scholarships for her works and is an art lecturer at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Rhine-Westphalia in the field of cultural education and works as an art mediator at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Georg Kolbe Museum.
In her artistic works, she scrutinises the concept of the collection and opens up spaces for visual and physical encounters. She breaks through viewing habits, brings the smallest objects into dialogue with complex spatial drawings and leaves space for the ephemeral.
