Why do marble statues appear so lifelike? And how do they change through the interplay of light and shadow? In this workshop, children explore different sculptures discovered during a walk through the stairwell of the Humboldt Forum. Through playful activities, they engage with the form and expression of these figures and examine the nature of materials such as marble and bronze. They explore further details with equipment such as flashlights and experience the effects of light and shadow. After the tour, each child creates their own stick-puppet and brings both – the figure and its shadow – to life, using a flashlight.

In the Humboldt Forum's foyer there is a 17 meter high media tower, called "cosmograph". It gives visitors comprehensive information about their visit and can transform into an art and light installation.
