A living room and a place of security in Berlin’s historic centre: On 1 December 2022, Johanniter, together with the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss and the shop operator MUSON, opened a “place of warmth”. Especially welcome are people who are challenged by these difficult times because they are homeless, socially and economically disadvantaged or lonely. The room offers the possibility for up to 60 people to stay in heated rooms free of charge. They will find sufficient seating, hot drinks and small snacks, a reading and play corner as well as a donation shop on site. With their offer, the Berlin Johanniter not only want to provide warmth, but at the same time a space for encouraging conversations as well as participation.

The project is a contribution to the “Network of Warmth”, which church, social and private organisations have initiated in view of the challenges of the energy crisis resulting from the war of aggression against Ukraine, in order to provide concrete help and create spaces of encounter. The guests will be looked after by Johanniter volunteers.

You can support the project: Donations in kind, such as coffee, packaged sweets, new socks, and unopened hygiene items, are welcome upon prior arrangement. For more information, please visit [email protected].
