“The task of capturing the athletes and the competitions, the volunteers, the celebrations and the events in professional pictures was something I accepted with joy. This resulted in a lot of moving pictures and for me an equally moving experience.”
Luca Siermann has been photographing athletes at the Special Olympics since 2004. The photographic examination of people as studio portraits or reportage images has become an integral part of his work in recent years. Through the strict design framework – white backgrounds, landscape format and black and white – he manages to give the athletes the entire space of the image and fill it independently.
