The Kenya-based duo ODD OKODDO – Sven Kacirek and Olith Ratego – blend avant-garde electronic rhythms with the rich folk traditions of the Luo people, creating what Olith Ratego calls Dodo Blues. Their latest album Negore (Altin Village & Mine, 2024) expands their hypnotic sound with ten immersive compositions, praised by NPR, BBC Radio, and Bandcamp. Their music is a seamless dialogue between Ratego’s evocative vocals and Kacirek’s textured soundscapes, exploring themes of love, destiny, and resilience. Featuring guest contributions from KMRU and Angel Bat Dawid, Negore balances introspective and dynamic elements while staying true to their distinctive sonic identity.
Known for their fluid and evolving live performances, ODD OKODDO have captivated audiences at festivals like Nyege Nyege and Kilifi New Year. As part of their 2025 European tour, they will be joined by the legendary Ogoya Nengo, the revered queen of Luo music. With a career spanning decades, Ogoya’s powerful voice has defined traditional Luo ceremonies, from weddings to wrestling competitions. Now in her 80s, she continues to embody the soul of her heritage, bringing an electrifying presence to the stage.
