We’re taught early on that lying is wrong. But doesn’t everyone lie sometimes—or at least tell a little fib? And what about a white lie?

Of course, honesty is important in every relationship: in friendships, romantic partnerships, and especially between parents and children. Still—every person and every family definitely has secrets.

Little secrets, like secretly playing on the computer or reading under the covers at night—no problem. But then there are the big secrets: Grandpa drinks too much beer—but no one talks about it. Or: Mom cheated on Dad with a woman—but that’s supposed to stay a secret too. But in the end, doesn’t everything somehow come out anyway? Shouldn’t we just be open and honest about everything right from the start?

On the other hand, it can sometimes feel nice and bonding to keep a shared secret. And a white lie that protects someone can even be important.

Today we’re talking about lies and family secrets, looking at what lying does to us, how it makes us feel—and we’ll try to be completely honest about it, promise!

The live recording of the KAKADU children’s podcast features three young experts: Coco, Elsa, and Miika. The podcast is hosted by Ryke.

In the Humboldt Forum's foyer there is a 17 meter high media tower, called "cosmograph". It gives visitors comprehensive information about their visit and can transform into an art and light installation.
