Code Week Hands-On Festival
Robot families, kinship recognition with AI, sampled family hymns, coding family tournaments, digital family avatars, the dream home as a virtual world, family crests as pixel symbols and stamps from the laser cutter: this year, the Code Week hands-on festival at the Humboldt Forum is all about family!
Stiftung Humboldt Forum and Verbund der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken Berlins (VÖBB) are once again inviting young and old to code, hack and game together. On October 18, 2025, there will be a colorful hands-on festival for children, teenagers and adults from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Ticket information
It is necessary to book a free time slot ticket to visit the hands-on activities in the Workshops (recommended ages 5 and up) and in Hall 2 (recommended ages 10 and up)!
The ticket entitles you to enter either the Workshops or Hall 2 at the beginning of the booked time slot. Please check our website in advance to find out about the respective program and arrive at the venue on time.
Tickets are available online or at the box office in the foyer of the Humboldt Forum. Remaining tickets are available at the box office on the day of the event. Children up to the age of 12 must always be accompanied by an adult in the Workshops and Hall 2. Please book one ticket per person (including infants).
Programme
Activities for Ages 5 and up in the Workshops – with Time Slot Tickets
Compete with Dash robots in a family soccer tournament, go on a family outing with Sphero Indi, become part of the international Open Roberta family, and design your own digital family using Bloxel. In the Workshops on the first floor of the Humboldt Forum, many different hands-on stations invite you to playfully gain your first experience in programming and try out digital tools and robots suitable for children. For children aged 2 and over, there are a play area, a slide and giant building blocks to discover.
Activities for Ages 10 and up in Hall 2 – with Time Slot Tickets
Find out how AI learns who looks like you, sample experimental sounds for your own family anthem, design stamps with your family crest using a laser cutter, and program Goat Cars in a family tournament. Hall 2 on the ground floor of the Humboldt Forum offers a diverse hands-on program where teenagers and adults can learn about a wide range of technological highlights and get creative themselves: from C64 to Makey Makey to Oculus Quest, everything is included!
Activities for everyone on Schlossplatz, in the Foyer and the staircase hall – Just Drop by
Draw robot families, discover books and board games on the topics of AI, coding, and robotics, and design brightly colored Code Week buttons. Create your ideal home as a virtual world in the Mechanical Arena in the foyer (10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) and test your knowledge of the festival themes of computer science and family in the quiz sessions with Tom & Darren (between 2 and 5 p.m.). On Schlossplatz, you can compete against each other in the Maker Mobil street game and design your own team badges.
