The collection and exhibition history of the Ethnological Museum is closely linked to German colonial history. The curator’s tour approaches this history and its present by looking at different ways of exhibiting in the Africa department and object stories from Tanzania, Namibia and Cameroon, among others.

    Meeting point & time

The meeting point for guided tours and the location for workshops can be found on your booking confirmation. In order for the tour to begin punctually, please arrive 15 minutes before the programme is due to start. We ask that you allow for this additional quarter hour when planning your visit.

In the Humboldt Forum's foyer there is a 17 meter high media tower, called "cosmograph". It gives visitors comprehensive information about their visit and can transform into an art and light installation.
