Conservation in Dialogue: Conservation is a fascinating, yet often hidden, field in museum work. What is preserved, how, and who makes the decisions? The exhibition at the Humboldt Forum explores the various aspects of this important work.

The exhibition features two totem poles from Canada’s Northwest Coast, an ornate lacquer cabinet from the Qing Dynasty, a ceremonial pipe belonging to the Omaha (Umoⁿhoⁿ) Nation of Nebraska, and a Mongolian shrine. These four projects, accompanied by an informative brochure, provide fascinating insights into the questions and methods involved in museum conservation. On the European Day of Museum Conservation the curatorial team will offer insights into the featured conservation projects and offer tours of the conservation workshops at the Humboldt Forum.
