Audre Lorde, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Abdulrazak Gurnah and many other strong voices of literature have dealt with dying, death, mourning and living with death. We present a small selection of them in a small handbook curated by Philipp Khabo Koepsell.

Philipp Khabo Koepsell (born 1980) is a Berlin-based Afro-German poet, dramaturg, and interdisciplinary artist. His content deals with Black identity negotiations, Afrofuturism, colonialism and empowerment. He is the editor of a book series on Afro-diasporic cultural production in Germany. As a poet/spoken word performer, he performs on international stages and toured Europe, the US, and South Africa between 2010 and 2015.
As a dramaturg, he oversees plays for Berlin’s Ballhaus Naunynstraße theater and independent theater groups, and curates symposia and event series (including the poetry and performance series Arriving in the Future and the networking meeting Erste Indaba Schwarzer Kulturschaffender in Deutschland).
As a rapper and producer, he also performs with the live band New Night Babies, which is composed of instrumentalists, poet*s and singers from three different continents.
He is the father of a daughter and lives and works in Berlin.
