If science is queen at Humboldt Lab, then #Logoskop is her court jester. Since 2021, artistic freedom has been making monthly appearances at Humboldt University’s exhibition space, using literature to shake up the scientific perspective. Equipped with microphones and amplifiers, two slam poets wander through the exhibition and recite texts.

This time, slam poets Etta Streicher and Frank Klötgen will be joining us. Together, they will comment on the exhibition ‘On Water’ with live recitations. Visitors are invited to accompany them on their tour of eloquence.

Etta Streicher

Etta Streicher is a poet, actress, presenter and performance artist who has been touring with her own texts and productions since the late 1990s. She develops live programmes that are somewhere between readings, slam poetry, theatre and experimental performance, combining language with play, sound and objects.

In her work, she creates poetic situations that are both playful and sensual – such as interactive scenes with street theatre, in which short poems, speculations about dreams and the ‘cabaret of good wishes’ encounter the audience, or performative solo programmes in which words, sounds and effects become a universe of their own.

Together with illustrator and animator Rebecca Blöcher, she works in the artistic field between text art and visual art. Their joint book ‘menschenfressereins’ and the animated film ‘quälen’ have been shown at numerous festivals and have won many awards.

Frank Klötgen

Frank Klötgen is a poet, cabaret artist and one of the most versatile stage writers in the German-speaking world.

Born in Essen in 1968, he now lives in Munich and has been combining literature, performance and music for many years. Over 2,000 performances at home and abroad, international tours and his work at reading stages and in the ensemble of the ‘Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft’ testify to his extraordinary stage presence. Since 2005, he has also been shaping the poetry slam scene as the host of the ‘Grend Slam’ revue.

Klötgen has published several novels and poetry collections, most recently ‘Lebhaft im Abgang. Tödliches & Tröstliches in 200 Gedichten’ (Lively in the Finish: Deadly & Comforting in 200 Poems). His texts are linguistically precise, rhythmically pointed and combine depth with clever humour. At the same time, he has been the singer and lyricist of the band ‘Marilyn’s Army’ for 15 albums.

At the LOGOSKOP, he will be performing alternating with Etta Streicher – an evening that promises literary virtuosity, wit and stage energy.
