With the opening of the exhibition On Water – WaterKnowledge in Berlin in October, the Logoskop is back on track: in a new setting, poets will once again explore the science exhibition at the Humboldt Lab every month.
This time, slam poets Ruth Fuentes and Bas Böttcher will take part. Together, they will comment on the exhibition ‘On Water’ with live recitations. Visitors are also invited to accompany them on their eloquent tour of the new exhibition.
Curated by Bas Böttcher
Ruth Fuentes was born in Kaiserslautern in 1995. Until January 2023, she completed her traineeship at the taz Panter Foundation. Prior to that, she studied mathematics in Madrid and Heidelberg, where she wrote for student and regional newspapers and gained her first journalistic experience. Since 2022, she has been writing the taz. FUTURZWEI column ‘Voice of My Generation’ alternately with Aron Boks.
Her articles cover a wide range of topics – from nightlife and ski jumping to questions about society and the hydrogen bomb. In addition to her work as an author and journalist, she also appears as a presenter: she organises events for the taz Panter Foundation and also participated in taz lab 2023. In this way, she combines journalistic work with public presence and contributes in various ways to current social debates.
Bas Böttcher is one of the co-founders of the German-language spoken word scene. He studied at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and has lived in Berlin since 2000. His texts are considered exemplary for contemporary stage poetry. He has also published three volumes of poetry with Voland & Quist: Dies ist kein Konzert, Neonomade and Vorübergehende Schönheit. Bas Böttcher has performed at venues including the main hall of the Elbphilharmonie and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Paris), as well as at book fairs in Beijing, Guadalajara, Moscow, São Paulo and Bangkok.
Bas Böttcher is the inventor and programmer of various media formats for poetry. He developed the electronic hypertext Looppool as a new form of expression on the Internet. He has taught at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, the German Literature Archive in Marbach, the Culture Academy of Baden-Württemberg, the Berlin University of the Arts and Goethe Institutes worldwide.
