In 2008, Cris Moreira gave birth to twins and lost one of her children, Francisco, at just two days old. In this lecture-performance, the Brazilian artist uses documentary and audiovisual devices to revisit her grief and address the invisibility of pain in a society that treats pregnancy as public but the loss of a child as private. Questioning who is willing to listen to a mother speak about death, the work broadens the discussion on motherhood and family and the loneliness surrounding parental grief.
