Berlin’s Palace of the Republic has been demolished. Which places with a socialist past are currently undergoing change, renewal, or demolition? How can we reinterpret, redesign, and redefine places with an ambivalent legacy to make them fit for the future? How do memory and transformation fit together?
Experts with diverse perspectives will share their assessments of how such places are perceived today and who makes decisions about them. This panel discussion complements the two-day networking event “Dangerous / Endangered—The Future of Places with GDR History” (attendance by invitation only) by offering a pan-European perspective.
