Markus Preiß, born in 1978 in Heiligenstadt, Thuringia, is a television journalist and presenter. After studying political science and journalism in Dortmund, Preiß wrote for newspapers, was a reporter for Tagesschau and a correspondent in Paris. It soon became clear that whenever Preiß appeared on television, it was to discuss major political issues: as an ARD correspondent, he reported from Brussels on Europe, the EU and NATO for many years. From 2016, he headed the ARD studio in Brussels, and since 2024 he has been head of the ARD capital studio in Berlin. Preiß is also regularly in front of the camera in crisis situations, most recently during the war in Ukraine. In his book “Angezählt”, Preiß examines how Germany and the power structure in Europe have changed after the “turning point’”.
