Weltdenken

This digital installation is inspired by the mural WELTDENKEN (Global thinking) by the street art duo How and Nosm. Located in the entrance area of the Berlin Global exhibition, WELTDENKEN explores the history of Berlin and the world since the early 19th century, with a focus on the colonial era.

For the Kosmograf, specific episodes and elements of the mural were selected, animated, and assembled into a digital artwork.

What I hope for is that the art world will continue to recognize that urban contemporary art belongs in museums. That it is a form of art that has become indispensable, that is important, that is democratic, and that is simply better received by many people.

Raffael Calleja, a motion designer, worked closely with How & Nosm to create animations that embody the spirit of WELTDENKEN and encourage visitors to explore the Berlin Global exhibition on the first floor of the Humboldt Forum.
