Lange Nacht der Museen Berlin 2025: Love
During the Lange Nacht der Museen, the Humboldt Forum invites you to a night full of love.
This year the Humboldt Forum is part of the Berlin Long Night of Museums. From 6 pm onwards, the Humboldt Forum looks forward to your visit.
After dusk you will enter the Schlüter Courtyard through portals illuminated in rainbow colours, which as always invites you to linger. You will be able to see a concert of light shooting its beams far into the Berlin night sky from afar.
The air-conditioned foyer invites you to dance or chill to the rhythms of DJ Daniel Wang during this long night. Enjoy a digital sea of colours played out for you by our media tower.
Get to know the entire house in one long night: In the Humboldt Forum you can expect a programme from the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin with the Ethnologisches Museum and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst, as well as the Stadtmuseum Berlin. Connect with the globe in BERLIN GLOBAL on an interactive tour during the Lange Nacht der Museen and experience how the city and its people are connected to the world – then and now. The exhibitions of the Ethnologisches Museum and the Museum für Asiatische Kunst of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin again offer very different views of past and present cultures of Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Conservation in Dialogue
The exhibition Conservation in Dialogue offers insight into the complex field of conservation and restoration. What ethical principles guide this work? What methods do conservators use? And how are international partners from source communities involved in the decision-making processes? Through four case studies, the exhibition highlights the diverse and often behind-the-scenes nature of this profession.
During the Lange Nacht der Museen, there will be short talks with the exhibition’s curators.

What stories do these cultural artefacts tell? Who should tell these stories – a museum in Berlin or the societies from which the ‘objects’ come? Which stories remain untold or unheard – and why? What significance do cultural belongings have for people in Tanzania and where does their future lie?
The exhibition was developed in collaboration with the National Museum of Tanzania and in discussion with representatives of various communities in Tanzania. The guided tour through the exhibition provides insights into the stories of origin of exhibits, addresses questions of restitution and sheds light on the handling of cultural belongings in museums today. Representatives from Tanzania have their say through film interviews in the exhibition. Views on current debates, e.g. on politics after Tanzanian independence or the renaming of colonial street names, round off the tour.

The coastal rainforest in British Columbia is an important climate protector, thanks to its impressively old and gigantic trees. The maintenance of this important ecosystem also lies in the hands of the First Nations who live there. The Cedar, especially, is irreplaceable for many of them. The exhibition Ts’uu – Cedar: Of Trees and People sheds light on the meaning of the forest in the context of colonial exploitation and commercial use. Within the scope of the guided tour, an educator will discuss whether some approaches of the First Nations can be transferred to local change processes and talk about interaction processes between people, environment and climate.
