Liberal ideas and orders have lost much of their former appeal. Where promises of freedom turn out to be empty, disappointment seems inevitable. Which systemic injustices and historical legacies are inscribed in the liberal order? To what extent are the current challenges from within and without rooted in liberalism itself and its history, which cannot be separated from colonialism? And what lessons do we learn from this tofay?

In a conversation with journalist Christoph David Piorkowski, philosopher Stefan Gosepath answers questions about self-contradictions, legacies and unfulfilled promises of liberalism.
