For generations, Nouruz has been accompanied by fascinating legends and stories—tales of new beginnings, hope, and the power of transformation.

In this special workshop, the renowned Afghan actor and puppeteer Karim Asir invites participants to explore their own creativity. Using paper, imagination, and personal memories, they will create short original stories to be presented to an audience at the end of the session.

Inspired by Nouruz and themes such as renewal, change, and hope, the workshop creates a vibrant space for expression and encounter. It brings together art and education in an intercultural setting where people from diverse backgrounds engage in dialogue, learn from one another, and create together.

The workshop is for children and adults alike. Registration is not required. As space is limited, we recommend arriving early.

The results of the workshop will be presented from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Mohammad Karim Asir

Mohammad Karim Asir (born in 1994) is an actor and puppeteer from Afghanistan. Most people there know him as the Afghan Charlie Chaplin. Asir graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in theater and has a master’s degree in performance arts from Kabul University. He wanted to use his theater education to address social problems in Afghanistan. So he began a career as a Charlie Chaplin impersonator in public and private venues, including the streets of Kabul, public parks, private parties, charity events, and an orphanage. When he received a threatening letter from the Taliban about his activities in July 2021, and after the Taliban took power in August 2021, he fled to Germany and now lives in Bochum.
