duendita’s music is close to classic soul, but her sound is much more fragile and brittle. The extremely slow flow leaves a lot of room for thoughtfulness, for subtle tricks and atmospheric experiments. A stripped back bass and subtle drums set the framework Duendita fills with her extraordinary voice.

Puerto Rican-US artist, singer and poet duendita has been exploring the roots of her own history for years. Her lyrics and music reflect collective memories of Black communities, inherited traumas, and everyday experiences as a person of color in New York. duendita captures her feelings in disarming R&B full of emotion and deep reverberations whose energy is contagious. In her haunting song “Blue Hands”, she sings, “I wish you a long, long, long black life / that’s for the girls who disappear in the night in blue hands.”
