Talk and presentation of the sound installation „I will not weep“ by Senti Toy Threadgill

„I will not weep“ was produced by the Naga musician Senti Toy Threadgill for the Listening Room in the Humboldt Forum. Various historical and contemporary sound recordings give an insight into what the region sounds like. Referring to the title the artist sees many reasons for the Naga to weep. For example because they lost their freedom or because they lost aspects of their traditional music. How can the limitations imposed by colonialism and christianization be overcome? What does it mean to no longer weep? Sentienla Toy Threadgill has been living in New York since 1994. She is a musician and music ethnologist who is especially interested in the topic of feelings and affect in relation to music.
place: Klangwerkstatt and Listening Room

The event will be held in English.
