Who does the future actually belong to? And how fair is a society in which background, wealth, and inheritance largely determine one’s opportunities in life?
In her keynote address, Verena Bentele, President of the social welfare association VdK Germany, examines the societal consequences of unequal wealth distribution and the importance of social justice. This is not just about money and property, but also about opportunities, self-determination, and social participation. Drawing on her work in social policy and her personal experiences, she asks what responsibility a society bears to ensure that all people—regardless of background, wealth, or disability—have the opportunity to participate and shape both political and social life.
